Problem

thepictureofsound:

I was reading up on ASL v.s. PSE and I realized….i sometimes sign PSE……

How do I know if my teachers are using PSE or ASL. I realize it is a different grammar structure, but I sometimes use it when I am not sure how to communicate my idea correctly in ASL or when I am talking with people in ASL1…..

I want to learn ASL grammar. not PSE.  HELP? Any tips to make sure I am doing it correctly?

most people don’t sign pure asl, but a mixture of asl and pse…just like you’re doing. You’re fine!

  1. terpingitup answered: As someone else said, it is natural for non-native, hearing signers to mix PSE and ASL. Signing ASL grammar takes practice. Lots of practice.

  3. diaryofahumanbeing answered: I think I do the same thing! If I’m signing with an English speaker, sometimes I resort to PSE/SEE for that ONE phrase I can’t translate yet
