Seriously. I can understand the argument that widening legal access to marriage upsets its supposed sanctity. (Although I strongly disagree with that argument, I can understand the logic behind it.) But for this one, I just can’t recreate his thought process on the issue at all.
i think his point is that the people of California who voted for prop 8 had their right to strip others of their rights taken away… Like, what’s the point of voting if a judge is just going to overturn your vote anyway? Oddly enough, it almost makes more sense to me than the sanctity argument (wtf does that word even mean? TNC) I think he’s hit on the major flaw of democracy, honestly. It’s set up so that the majority have the abilit to take away the rights of the minority… Yikes.
